The 411 On Your FAQ

It's time to give this subpage the credit it deserves

For nearly three years, creating a frequently asked questions page for my business sat on the back burner. Like me, so many other business owners don’t make this information a priority when it comes to creating website copy. For me personally, the task of generalizing client inquiries seemed daunting, since I’d assumed they’d be unique to each client and their unique project request. After spending more time in my business, I’ve started to identify patterns in the types of questions that new clients may have about my process, pricing, policies, and other critical information. These common queries prompted me to construct my own FAQ page to paint a clearer picture for prospective clients about what it’s like to work with me.

Beyond saving yourself (and clients) time and additional communication, there are several perks to featuring a frequently asked questions page on your website. Keep reading to discover them all, and to pick up a few friendly tips for crafting an effective FAQ page.

Customer Qualification

Addressing common questions up front can help ensure that your product or service is a fit for each new customer. Doing this can support customers’ decision-making, influencing them to take action sooner, without having to connect with a representative of your team. This can help your business operate more smoothly and efficiently, freeing up more of your teams’ time while offering visitors the convenience of easily accessible information.

Creating an FAQ and unsure where to start? Get information straight from the source by using social media to poll your audience. A great place to do this is in Stories on Instagram using the Questions sticker.

Trust & Credibility

Your FAQ page is an excellent space to highlight your expertise and dispel any concerns that customers may have about your product or service. It’s a great spot to list out disclaimers, credentials, accolades, product testing requirements, and other important details that contribute to your credibility.

Tip: Keep answers brief and to the point to keep readers engaged. Blog posts are a more appropriate venue for sharing lengthier articles about the topics your customers are curious about, and you can redirect customers to these pages by linking them within your FAQ page.

SEO Benefits

Including relevant and strategic keywords and phrases in your FAQ page can boost your website’s visibility, making it more likely for your site to appear in search results when users enter related queries. Remember to be specific with your answers, ensuring that answers fully satisfy the questions being asked; this will help to increase the length of time visitors spend on your website, preventing user frustration and minimizing bounce rates.

Examples of SEO-friendly frequently asked questions:

How long does it take for (XY product) to work?
What are the benefits of hiring an (XY service provider)?
What are the side effects of using an (XY product)?
Can I request a demo/trial of (XY product or service)?
What does it cost to hire an (XY service provider)?
What is (XY company name’s) return/cancellation policy?

Customer Satisfaction

Full transparency about what clients/customers can expect from your product/service can improve customer satisfaction, preventing item returns, negative reviews, and other undesirable outcomes that can arise from uninformed customers.

Tip: Update your FAQ page as you collect additional customer feedback to ensure information is relevant and timely.
